Background and Experience
Originally from the Windward side of the island, Lilia is a recent graduate from Touro University Worldwide with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (2024). Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Communication from Chapman University in 2007 and a Registered Behavior Technician Certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in 2024. Below is a brief message from Lilia:
“I personally believe that each individual has the internal knowledge, resources and wisdom to capture the opportunities and overcome the obstacles they are faced with in their lives. The challenge can be having the ability to take a step back and unlock the answers that lie within them.
As your therapist, I’d be humbled to walk alongside you and help you dive deeper into your own internal wisdom and help find the answers you may be seeking. Together we will work to alleviate some of the stress, pain or worry you might be experiencing in your life and within your intimate relationships. By gaining a deeper knowledge of self, we can shed light on some of the areas in your life that may benefit from some shifts in perceptions or behaviors. I look forward to sitting with you– with your pain and with your joy. I can offer you a listening ear, a compassionate heart, and a person-centered approach in therapy.”
Mahalo in advance for putting your trust and confidence in me.
FAQS
-
The consultation is a full hour and is mostly a conversation. Lilia will share more about the therapeutic process, ask about what brought you in, what's been going on in your life, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. She'll also give you a chance to get a feel for whether working together feels like a good fit, answer any questions you may have, and invite your feedback along the way. There's no pressure, and nothing you share will be judged.
-
Lilia is compassionate and person-led, offering unconditional acceptance and a strong focus on each individual's own inner wisdom and expertise on their own life. She is dedicated to seeking out her clients' voice and wisdom to guide the direction of their sessions together, rather than imposing her own agenda.

Lilia draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Family of Origin work, and Humanistic Therapy. With couples, EFT helps partners understand the emotional cycles driving conflict and rebuild secure connection, while Family of Origin work looks at the patterns each partner brings from their own upbringing. With individuals, Narrative and Humanistic approaches help clients explore their own story, values, and preferred way of relating to their experiences, always centered on each client's own inner wisdom.

An MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) is trained to work with the emotional and relational patterns that shape how we think, feel, and connect with others. Unlike psychiatrists, MFTs do not prescribe medication. Unlike psychologists, who often focus on assessment and diagnosis, MFTs are specifically trained in relationship systems — meaning Lilia looks not just at the individual, but at how relationships, family history, and life context are shaping your experience.
-
After completing their master's degree, MFTs are required to work under the supervision of a Licensed MFT for at least two years and gather 1,000 hours of direct client experience before they can take their licensing exam. A Pre-Licensed MFT can often be a good fit for clients who want greater accessibility and additional oversight on their case.
